This is the famous rear naked choke explained in detail. Your objective is to
close of the blood flow at the carotid arteries forcing your opponent to tap

or go to sleep.

A triangle choke (called Sankaku-Jime in judo) is a type of figure-four
chokehold which strangles the opponent by encircling the opponent's neck and
one arm with the legs in a configuration similar to the shape of a triangle.
The technique is a type of lateral vascular restraint that constricts

the blood flow from the carotid arteries to the brain.

The term "Choke" is a bit of a broadened term here, as there are plenty of
Sleeper-esque holds as well. Simply put, these holds here are legal holds
that restrict blood flow to the brain(known as a Blood Choke). The art of
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
blood restriction goes back well before my time, and probably the time of
just about anyone on this site, as it has its roots back in the early days of
pro wrestling. As time went on, eventually, the most common form of this type
of hold, the Sleeper, became synonymous with some of the greatest wrestlers
in history, and cut off many a Carotid Artery. Since then, and given the rise
of martial arts disciplines, legitimate holds slowly made their way into
wrestling rings.
