Manchester United and Chelsea 'leading big-money chase for £32m Cesc
Fabregas'
Jun 02, 2014 10:08 - By Ben Burrows
Manchester United and Chelsea are leading the chase for Cesc Fabregas,
according to reports in Spain.
Despite talk to the contrary by club president Josep Maria Bartomeu
earlier in the week it appears the Blaugrana are prepared to cut the
midfielder loose this summer.
Fabregas, who is part of Spain's national side attempting to defend their
World Cup crown in Brazil, is said to prefer a return to England if he has
to end his Nou Camp stay.
Former-club Arsenal have a buy-back clause enabling them to match any
successful offer for the 27-year-old, with reports earlier today
indicating they were ready to move.
But Spanish newspaper Marca suggest it is instead United and Chelsea,
rather than the Gunners, who are in pole position to land him.
They say that the deposed champions are ready to offer a significant
increase on his current personal terms - some €6m per year AFTER TAX - to
persuade him to choose Old Trafford.
Chelsea aren't prepared to stretch to such lucrative terms but are still
keen on pushing a deal through.
